WORK IN PROGRESS

Presently I am working on a body of work with the theme "Children and War".

I hope to create three installations entitled"

Gaza Roses, Toybox and Loss of Innocence.

A main influence in my art is John Berger but another influence is Allan McCullum. Like him, but not on his scale, I like to apply the strategies of mass production - see e.g. my works "Brick Books" and "Bauhaus Bricks". These works and the flower production for this present body of work are labour intensive. I seek help and run workshops to get multiples made. By involving others in my art production I am questioning the intrinsic value of the unique work of art.
I was assisted in the production of these flowers by the International Womens Group, Lancaster University and a young Muslim womens' group called: Sapno
The flowers were made at four workshops I ran and I shall now take these flowers as raw material and make them into two different installations.
