Eco Art: General

SUSTAINABLE FUTURE?
This work formed part of my End of Residency Art Exhibition, "Watching Walls"
(Residency was at Lancaster University Chaplaincy Centre)
The building tools within this installation are covered in newspaper and the bricks are made of the same material.  Newspapers are easily recyclable and increasing we are being urged to recycle our household waste.  Is what we are doing presently enough?  Is there personal/political enthusiasm and are we really willing to  engage with the adjustments necessary in our present lifestyles to combat the effects of Global Warming?  Are we building a Sustainable Future?
The labels on the papier mache bricks in this installation puts a responsibility onto the art audience by asking them to answer the question – How will YOU save the planet?

MOTHER EARTH I
This work is celebrating the nurturing gentle side of nature despite our abuse of it.  I asked many people “How will YOU save the planet?”  Their answers were diverse – no clear solutions were proffered and some were almost flippant.  I represented such fragmentation by rendering the their answers into a jig-saw puzzle.

This work is ultimately hopeful.  The words are caught by the gentle hands of Mother Earth.

MOTHER EARTH II
Now she holds our inept words which I have gently sewn through her fingers.

Two large-format photographs.
